A Case for Large Titles

Just in case you thought large, bold titles were a new thing, take a look at this page from our local newspaper published in 1970. The first four stories at the top also have a sub-title.

Although the page lacks “white space”, the large titles, and the space around them, certainly help the reader easily navigate to items of interest. It is also interesting to notice that the font seems to be consistent throughout but the titles are different sizes, different weights and some are in italics while most are not.
